DIY Eye Primer

My first DIY tutorial :)

So, this idea of making my own eye primer started when i needed to buy one for my annual ball in Sept this year. I don't usually use primers as i don't wear makeup on a daily basis. I didn't wanna fork out so much money to buy the Urban Decay Primer (RM75), and i didn't have time to buy Etude House's primer either (RM29.90) - which is said to be as good as the UD primer.

So, I YouTubed for substitutes of eye primer (as i wanted my makeup to stay on all night, smudge free- I detest looking like a raccoon!) , and i stumbled upon a tutorial!
If you don't wanna waste money on an eye primer you'd use once in a blue moon, OR if you are out of your fav primer and need one asap, this tutorial is for you. It worked for me! :)

Disclaimer : Use it only on your eyelids and under eye area, NOT your entire face. Use a body butter that you will not mind putting on your eyelids. I wouldn't recommend thrifting on body butter when doing this.

AND,   Body Butter ≠ Body Lotion !!

Tutorial:

1. What you will need:
  • Body Butter
  • A Toothpick
  • An Empty Container
  • Foundation (I used Estee Lauder's Double Wear

In this pic you can see the difference between body butter and body lotion. (L: Palmer's Body Butter, R: PeterThomasRoth 'Mega-Rich' body lotion) As you can see, despite being 'mega-rich', the lotion has a more watery consistency.

2. Add equal parts of body butter and foundation

3. Mix with a toothpick until it is mixed evenly

The consistency should be thick.

3. You're doneee! :D

    The end result:

Swatch time!!

This is how it looks like when it is applied on the hand. It is creamy and thick.

When it's blended, it blends in with your skin.

Here's the swatch with eyeshadow colors:

On the left are the colors without the primer, and on the right are the colors with the primer. It looks more vibrant, and it is easier to apply. It comes out really smoothly too.

Top to bottom:
1. Coastal Scents (88 palatte) in brown
2. NYX in Matte Turquoise (ES75B)
3. Estee Lauder in Iris Pearl (#20)

Verdict: It works, try it!
